Enlisted in Plainfield, CT. Drummer in the Continental Army, Was in the Battle of Bunker Hill, White Plains, Princton and Yorktown.

Isaac Hurd, born May 11, 1757 in Plainfield, Conn., enlisted from Plainfield, Conn., as a drummer in the companies of Capt. William Cleft and Capt. Bates of the Col. John Durkee Regiment for the duration of the war. He was discharged three or four months before the end of the war at Fishkill.

He married Mary Quickall of Rhode Island. She died sometime before 1847 in Antwerp or LaFargeville. He then married Mary Moore. Isaac Hurd and his first wife had 10 children. His second wife, Mary Moore, was pensioned as his widow after Hurd's death Jan. 5, 1852

He is buried in the Arsenal Street Cemetery, but his grave has no marker.
